ortografía

This section gives you a few tips on how to spell Spanish words correctly.

Lower Case Letters
(important info)

Spanish uses far fewer capital letters than English does.

In Spanish days of the week , months of the year and seasons are not capitalised. Languages and nationalities are not capitalised either.

Conjunctions
changes to 'y' and 'o'

Spanish conjunctions y and o

The conjunction y (and) is replaced by e when the following word starts with i, because the y and i sounds are the same.

Example: francés e inglés

The conjunction o (or) is replaced by u when the following word starts with o.

Example: siete u ocho
